The Certificate has been designed to cater for practitioners and experienced teachers who want to undertake further study in Applied Linguistics. This certificate will extend your theoretical and practical knowledge of language and curriculum design and methodologies for language education. You will be able to explore the increasing use of English as a medium of instruction across all levels of education, and the worldwide demand for English proficiency in the globalising workplace.
This specialisation has been designed to explore the increasing use of English as a medium of instruction across all levels of education, the worldwide demand for English proficiency in the globalising workplace, and the ways in which language use is specialised in such domains. Subjects focus on the development of skills for analysing language as related to context and purpose, understanding the ways in which language learning is related to context and purpose, and understanding and designing research for these areas.

Entry requirements
Bachelor degree or equivalent.
A minimum of one year or equivalent relevant professional language teaching experience in an accredited institution.
You will also be required to submit proof of work experience in the form of a letter, on your employer's letterhead, stating the length of time employed, whether full or part time, and the nature of duties as well as a completed Supplementary Form.

If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Work experience requirements

Notes:
Full credit may be carried forward into the Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Linguistics with a specialisation in LSP provided a minimum GPA of 3.0 has been attained.
