Overview

This program of study aims to develop students skills in applied social research and the analysis of policy in social context. It builds skills in qualitative and basic quantitative social research, research design, evalutaion, and reflective as well as critical social analysis of the contemporary policy process. The program is intended for those who are employed in community-based and non-government service organisations; policy agencies in government; trade unions; local government; marketing and social research; and private consultancy.

Units available for study within the program include those available within the Master of Policy and Applied Social Research.

Key features

The program is intended to develop your capabilities in applied social research and policy development. It enables you to build conceptual understanding and practical skills across the range of areas, including qualitative and basic quantitative social research methods and research design, evaluation, and reflective as well as critical social analysis of contemporary policy issues, social policy and the policy process. The flexible degree structure also allows students to develop a unique package of units tailored to their personal interests and needs, by taking a range of units from related disciplines.

Suitable for

The program is intended for those who are employed or who seek employment in community-based and non-government service organisations (NGOs), policy agencies in government, local government, trade unions, marketing and social research; and private consultancy. It is also suitable for anyone wanting to study social research at an advanced (or postgraduate) level.

Entry requirements
