Overview
This certificate will equip you with a broad knowledge and understanding of the personal and social contexts within which social health issues arise and are maintained, the impact of social health issues, and the current responses to these phenomena. You will develop a critical appreciation of the variety of preventative strategies, and a basic competence in developing and implementing such strategies, together with knowledge of the variety of current treatment approaches and goals, and of their relationship to current social health practices.

- Multidisciplinary program provides a socio-cultural analysis on physical and psychological health including illness prevention, health promotion, identification, crisis intervention, individual and community interventions, and relapse prevention.
- You will develop a solid grounding in social health theory and core competencies in counselling/intervention skills.
- This certificate is designed to provide you with a strong foundation in counselling theory and skills and the application of these skills with particular groups of clients (Alcohol and Other Drugs, Child and Family, Indigenous Health).

Entry requirements
Bachelor degree in a related field or relevant professional experience. You will be subject to competitive selection based on an interview process.
English language requirements
If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Work experience in the field is encouraged during study so you can put into practice the knowledge and skills you are gaining during the course.

The Social Health & Counselling Program does not lead to registration as a Psychologist. If you wish to gain membership to allied professional associations, you will need to meet the criteria relevant to registration in those associations.
