Overview
The Postgraduate Certificate in Special Education is offered in three areas:
- Behavioural Problems
- High Support Needs, and
- Learning Difficulties
This certificate is appropriate to a wide range of individuals and is not limited to education professionals.
This specialisation will allow you to acquire the knowledge and skills to effectively instruct students with special education needs,. You will examine curriculum issues and instructional technologies, as well as be given a practical introduction and guide to developing relevant and meaningful educational programs for students with high support needs. You will also consider theoretical and conceptual issues related to communication, communication options, assessment approaches and intervention strategies.

- Flexible study option allows you to complete this degree by distance education.
- You will study a range of subjects, including; Effective Instruction for Students with Special Education Needs, Curriculum and Instruction for Individuals with High Support Needs, and Communication for Individuals with High Support Needs.
- You will have access to the Macquarie University Special Education Centre, which is a centre for research and teaching and brings together psychologists, teachers, therapists and researchers.
