Overview
The Postgraduate Certificate in Special Education is offered in three areas:
- Behavioural Problems
- High Support Needs, and
- Learning Difficulties
This certificate is appropriate to a wide range of individuals and is not limited to education professionals.
This specialisation will allow you to acquire the knowledge and skills to effectively instruct students with special education needs, and will feature a dedicated unit for effective literacy instruction and numeracy instruction. You will acquire instructional methods and approaches that have broad application and will provide you with a foundation for contemporary special education.

- You will study a range of subjects, including; Effective Instruction for Students with Special Education Needs, Effective Literacy Instruction, and Effective Numeracy Instruction.
- You will have access to the Macquarie University Special Education Centre, which is a centre for research and teaching and brings together psychologists, teachers, therapists and researchers.
