Overview
The Certificate is designed to provide a multilingual curriculum to meet the needs of interpreters working in the community with emerging languages and languages of small (typically migrant) communities. The specialisation for the Certificate is Community Interpreting.
The program is not language specific so students from a range of backgrounds can apply.

Suitable for people who are either already working as interpreters in the community, but lack the basic elements of training, or students who have no experience of interpreting but wish to enter the field on the basis of their bilingualism and motivation.

Entry requirements
You will need:
- A Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in T&I, Linguistics, Language of Cultural Studies, or other related fields.
- IELTS 7.0 OR NAATI Professional accreditation in any language.
If your first language is not English, you must have IELTS (Academic) 7.0 with a minimum score of 6.5 in all bands or TOEFL 600 or CTOEFL 250. If you have a lower level of English, you may enrol in the Translation and Interpreting Preparatory Program (TIPP) taught in the Centre for Macquarie English (CME) at Macquarie University.
If you have completed all of your primary and high school education within Australian schools, you will be deemed to have met the English language proficiency levels.
