Overview

This diploma has been designed to cover theoretical and methodological issues relevant to practitioners in a variety of professions whose work is concerned with applied language study. Subjects are internationally relevant and focus on the development of discourse analytic skills and understanding the complex relationship between language use and context.

This diploma has three specialisations:

  1. General Applied Linguistics
  2. Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
  3. Language for Specific Purposes (LSP)

Entry requirements

Bachelor degree or equivalent, or a Postgraduate Certificate of Applied Linguistics in one of the specialisations with GPA of 3.0.

A minimum of one year full time or equivalent relevant professional or language teaching experience depending on the specialisation.

You will also be required to submit proof of work experience in the form of a letter, on your employer's letterhead, stating the length of time employed, whether full or part time, and the nature of duties as well as a completed Supplementary Form.

If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Work experience requirements
