Overview
Due to an increasing demand for well trained biostatisticians, a group of senior academic biostatisticians around Australia have collaborated to develop this distance education program. This group is known as the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia (BCA), with representatives from major Australian universities with medical statistics expertise including Macquarie University, pharmaceutical companies and government organisations, all as major employers with a valued stake in the future of biostatistics. The collaboration has developed a focused curriculum with a mission to provide Australia with well-trained professional biostatisticians.
Key features
- Students in this program take fewer units than students in the Master of Biostatistics, although the units are the same
- Appropriate performance in the Postgraduate Diploma in Biostatistics can be counted for credit towards two thirds of the Master of Biostatistics.
- Designed to provide advanced biostatistical training for a diverse range of students
- Provides a sound mathematically-based grounding in statistical methods with a strong emphasis on applications in all areas of health and medical research
