The Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies and Culture Change is designed for students seeking a qualification in the field of development studies with a focus on the processes and consequences of development and cultural change in a globalising world. It requires core studies in both anthropology and human geography. The program considers development and cultural change in the context of key issues such as environment, health, human rights and international law, Indigenous rights, international relations, international communications and other relevant areas. The program is jointly taught by staff in Anthropology and Human Geography.
Units available for study within the program include those within the Master of Development Studies and Culture Change.

The impacts of development and cultural change in a globalising world are significant and felt at every level from local communities, to national policies, through to international institutions. Macquarie's Development Studies program brings together core studies in Anthropology and Human Geography with a range of other specialist fields to offer postgraduate and undergraduate degrees that provide a distinctive and well-focused specialisation in Development Studies which highlights the field of Culture Change.
The Postgraduate Diploma offers students the opportunity to gain an intermediate amount of expertise in the field of Development Studies. Outstanding teachers in both Departments offer students specialist studies on the impact of development and cultural change in the context of key issues such as environment, health, human rights and international law, indigenous rights, displacement and forced resettlement, international relations, international communications and other relevant areas.

Suitable for
Students with an undergraduate qualification in the social sciences (e.g. sociology, anthropology, human geography, politics) who are interested in careers dealing with development-related issues. Would also suit applicants who have already gained a Master degree or other qualification and seek to expand their qualifications in the field of Development.
