Overview

The Postgraduate Diploma comprises coursework units at the same standard as the corresponding Masters degree and articulation to higher award is possible in many cases.

Units available for study within the program include those available within the Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, with the exception of the Research Project and Internship unit/s.

Key features

This program covers a wide range of issues related to policing, intelligence and counter terrorism in international and national contexts, including the political, cultural, religious, economic and intelligence aspects.  The desirablilty of rigorous analysis, the development of sound policies and the need to understand local and sectional aspirations and ideologies in dealing with particular issues, countries and communities is emphasised. 

 

Also considered is the development and implementation of strategies and tactics to counter terrorism.  Recent case studies are drawn on to evaluate different possible approaches. The impact of media and modern communications technology on policing, intelligence gathering and security is also covered.

Members of Federal and Government Police services, military, private and public sector organisations dealing with threat, risk, intelligence analysis and border control and security measures.

Entry requirements

Bachelor degree from a recognised university OR for those without a first degree, a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.

 

English language requirements

If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.
