Overview

This double degree enables students to learn the essentials of businesses functions in the increasingly globalised world whilst focusing on international issues and developing important international relations skills.

Key features

Students have the opportunity to study a double Masters program which focuses on both international business and international relations.
Breadth and international focus: students develop a solid grounding in international business studies through core study in accounting, economics, finance and marketing.
Flexibility: students also study elective units chosen from a range of business and international relations disciplines

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a GPA of at least 2.70 out of 4.00.

Students with a business related major in their undergraduate degree may be eligible for exemptions from the gateway (600 level units) component (up to 16 credit points).

English language requirements

If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Martin Dieste

After finishing my Bachelor of Arts in International Management in Germany and working full time for approximately 1.5 years, I felt that obtaining a masters degree would be essential for my future career.

I was impressed by the different elective units on offer at Macquarie and the opportunity to add research projects. Crucial factor was that I could complete the degree within one year.

The international environment that I have encountered is perfect to establish an international network that might be of great value for my future career.

Our Graduates

Jessica Fuller

The double MIB/MIR degree allowed me to expand upon my business background while exploring a new area of interest. The classes from each the degree frequently covered similar subjects from different approaches, providing a well-rounded and comprehensive understanding. I also had the opportunity to complete an internship during my final semester. The internship department did an excellent job placing me with an organization and position that blended both of the degrees. The academics combined with the extremely diverse student body made for an incredible experience at Macquarie Uni.

Our Expertise

Associate Professor Lorne Cummings

Lorne received his PhD from Macquarie University. His area of academic research and research supervision includes International Financial Reporting Standards, measurement and disclosure issues associated with environmental accounting and ethical investment. He is currently on the editorial board of the News Journal of the Asia Pacific Centre for Environmental Accountability and The Open Business Journal. He has also developed and presented workshops for CPA Australia, and is a technical adviser on Financial Accounting and Reporting to the Australasian Reporting Awards.
