Overview
This degree will provide skills in basic and advanced assessment strategies, rehabilitation and habilitation of the hearing impaired, and the non-medical management of hearing impairment and related pathologies. You will also gain skills in research design with an optional project and an awareness of client management strategies.
With this degree, you will acquire the necessary skills to join the profession of audiology and practice in a variety of employment settings. Clinical training is provided as a formal part of the program with cooperation from audiological institutions.
Key features
- Coursework component includes units in: hearing assessment, anatomy and physiology of the hearing pathway, the audiology profession, counselling and community programs, hearing aids and aural rehabilitation.
- Practical component is a minimum of 200 clinical experience hours, as defined by Audiology Australia.
- A wide variety of guest lecturers who are experts in their fields provide valuable input to the lecture program.
- Access to the Macquarie University Audiology Clinic and a new Hearing Hub (due for completion in 2012) will bring together researchers, government organisations, not-for-profit organisations and hearing technology companies.
- You will have access to the world's first child magnetoencephalography facility.

Entry requirements
The basic admission requirement is a recognised Bachelor degree ideally with a strong academic record and a credit average plus a 1-2 page Personal Statement. There are no prerequisite subjects for this degree.
Spaces are limited and entry is competitive. The application closing date is the 31st October. Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee a place in the program.

No work experience is required. It is recommended that you should go to some Audiological settings for observations for better understanding of the profession of Audiology.
