Overview
This degree helps you become a high calibre practitioner who is well grounded in theory and practice and capable of moving across a range of clinically oriented areas. This degree consists of three main components:
- a series of theoretical and technical units in areas fundamental to practice and research in clinical neuropsychology;
- supervised placement experiences in neuropsychological settings;
- a research proposal and dissertation.
Key features
- Variety of subjects including neuroanatomy, neuropsychological disorders, and neuropsychopharmacology.
- Case conference units will give you the opportunity to hear from visiting clinicians and staff, and the chance to present cases from your placement.
- Supervised internship units equip you with the skills to be capable to move across a range of clinically oriented areas and to assume full independent professional responsibility.
- You will be eligible to register as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia upon completion of the program.
- You will have access to the Rod Power Psychology Clinic as well as other research and training facilities including a perception experiment laboratory.

Entry requirements
An Honours degree in psychology with first-class or second-class honours division 1.
Entry into this program is competitive and places are subject to a quota each year. You will be subject to competitive selection based on academic performance, relevant work experience, referees' reports, motivation for seeking training in clinical neuropsychology, current employment and future intentions, temperamental and interpersonal competence and interview performance.
English language requirements
If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Work experience requirements
Some exposure to brain injury populations, either through work or voluntary service.
Notes:
After completion of one semester, you may be eligible to transfer to the Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) or the Combined Doctor of Philosophy with Master of Clinical Neuropsychology program. Completion of specified pre-requisite units in the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology program with a minimum of 22 credit points of coursework units which must include PSY863 and PSYN825 is required.
You may also be considered for admission if you hold a Master of Clinical Neuropsychology or equivalent qualifications from another institution. Assessment for transfer is based on academic progress and personal suitability.

Accreditation
The degree is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council and approved by the College of Clinical Neuropsychologists. You will be eligible to register as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia upon completion of the program. Completion of the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology leads to endorsement as a clinical neuropsychologist in Australia.
