Overview
This program teaches research and practical skills involved in conference interpreting within simulated conference settings. It also prepares you to work as advanced interpreters in community and business contexts.

- You will conduct regular self and peer analyses of their interpreting work, and are taught by internationally renowned conference interpreters.
- A variety of units covering simultaneous interpreting, mock conferences, research methods and bilingualism.

Entry requirements
You will need:
- A Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in T&I, Linguistics, Language of Cultural Studies, or other related fields.
- NAATI Professional Level Accreditation as an interpretor (or overseas equivalent) or completion of any postgraduate degree in translation and interpreting with at least a Distinction in one intermediate level core practical interpreting subject (eg. TRAN822 in the PG Diploma/Master in Translating and Interpreting and Macquarie University) - acceptance subject to case-by-case assessment.
English language requirements
If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Work experience requirements
Relevant work experience would be advantageous.
Notes:
Program offered in Chinese (Mandarin) only. Japanese and Korean may be available subject to demand.
Regarding course duration, the course can be completed in one year of full-time study if you already have a NAATI accreditation, other relevant qualifications or have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Translation and Interpreting at Macquarie University (with a grade of Distinction or higher for TRAN822).
If you do not hold such accreditation/qualifications, you will need to enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Translation and Interpreting and complete with a grade of Distinction or higher for TRAN822 to qualify for entry into the Master of Conference Interpreting program, which would result in a total of two years of study.
