Financial Economics is about the management of financial risk and the decision making process required at individual, business, government and market level.
This specialisation will focus on investments including options, futures and derivatives, financial modelling, monetary and fiscal policy, financial regulations and international financial management.

Entry requirements
A recognised first degree equivalent to a three year Australian bachelor degree, with a GPA of at least 2.7 (out of 4.0).
If you have a major in economics in your undergraduate degree you may be exempt from the gateway component, allowing you to complete the Master of Economics in 2 semesters of full time study.
English language requirements
If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Our Expertise
Associate Professor Max Tani
Max holds a PhD in Economics from the ANU. Before academia, Max worked for a decade in investment banking (Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan Chase).
His research interests focus on human capital and migration, and especially its effect on international knowledge transfers.
He is joint coordinator of the Faculty’s Skilled Labour Group and a co-leader of the migration cluster at the Centre for Social Inclusion. In 2010 Max was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
