Master of Social Health and Counselling

Overview

This degree provides you with a broad knowledge and understanding of the personal and social contexts within which social health issues arise and are maintained, the impact of social health issues, and the current responses to these phenomena.

You will develop a critical appreciation of the variety of preventative strategies, and an ability to develop and implement such strategies. You will also learn about the variety of current treatment approaches and goals, and their relationship to current social health practices. This degree will highlight the need for and role of research in this area.

Allied Health professionals and frontline workers, counsellors, case workers and those with an interest in analysing the various facets of social health including prevention and intervention.

Entry requirements

Bachelor degree including a research project in a related field or Postgraduate Diploma in Social Health & Counselling. A minimum of a credit or above per unit is required in the PG Diploma in Social Health & Counselling. 

You will be subject to competitive selection based on your interview performance.

English language requirements

If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Work experience requirements

Work experience in the field is encouraged during your studies to put into practice the knowledge and skills you are gaining during the course and to let you learn the links between theory and practice.
