Stavros Koustais

'My experience in this program has been thoroughly rewarding both from a clinical and technical point of view.

The format of the degree is such that you work in close contact with the advanced scholars, receiving feedback at every stage. This provides an invaluable stimulus for reflecting upon your own performance both clinically and academically.

The weekly reflective practice meetings have given me an opportunity improve my literature search techniques as well as to acquire new presentation skills.

The facilities and technology available at Macquarie University Hospital is ideal for learning. The opportunity to record your operation and then receive a voice feedback from your advanced scholar at each step of the operation is truly fascinating. The anatomy lab provides endless opportunities to prepare prior to an operation and appreciate the anatomical landmarks of various surgical approaches.

Last but not least, a magnificent institution is made up primarily by its staff and not the technology available. The staff of ASAM, as well as of Macquarie Neurosurgery, have a strong sense of teamwork coupled with an unparallel commitment to teaching. My experience would not have been as rewarding without their support. With this degree, I am more prepared to embark in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Surgical Education and Training program in Neurosurgery.'
