Overview
Information Technology is increasingly important in a legal context. The use of information technologies in business and government raises legal issues around intellectual property, knowledge management and software use.
In this program you'll specialise in developing computer skills to build and use information systems, or to manage data: You'll also explore the relevant legal frameworks for these processes.
Software Technology, focusing on

In the Software Technology major you'll study algorithms, data structures and the principles of engineering quality software.
Information Systems, focusing on

In the Information Systems major you'll examine information modelling, analysis and design of software systems, and database design and management.
Macquarie Law will give you knowledge of information technology laws and the critical and analytic skills to really understand them.

Careers
Accreditation
Graduates of the BIT LLB degree will be entitled to admission for professional practice in New South Wales, subject to the requirements of professional training. The program will contain all subjects required by the authorities concerned with professional practice and necessary for admission to the College of Law.
Career Opportunities
Graduates can pursue careers where their Information Technology studies allow them to specialise in their work as a legal practitioner (barrister or solicitor), legal officer in public or private sectors, and in legal academia. Graduates are also qualified to pursue a career in IT, for example as a Programmer, Systems Analyst, Project Leader, Systems Development Manager, IT sales and marketing, Systems Engineer, Database Administrator, End-user support and training, Communication systems analysis and design, and IT or Management Consulting.
