Information Technology is increasingly important in a legal context. The use of information technologies in business and government raises legal issues around intellectual property, knowledge management and software use.
In this program you'll specialise in developing computer skills to build and use information systems, or to manage data: You'll also explore the relevant legal frameworks for these processes.

In the Information Systems major you'll examine information modelling, analysis and design of software systems, and database design and management.
Macquarie Law will give you knowledge of information technology laws and the critical and analytic skills to really understand them.

Dr Yvette Blount
Yvette joined Macquarie University in 2005. Prior to her academic career, Yvette worked in senior and consulting roles in the banking and IT industries. Yvette's area of expertise is how information systems affect human resource management policies and practices in the service sector, in particular retail banking. Other research areas include information systems theory and technologies in learning and teaching. This combination of research and industry experience provides a strong basis for teaching the real world context of information systems.
