Overview
Japanese Studies caters to students from beginners to advanced. Units cover language, Japanese manga/anime, literature, culture, history and mass media. There are also translation and interpreting workshops.
We emphasise intercultural language learning, where learners explore and understand the relationship between language and culture.
This program can lead to many opportunities, for several reasons:
- Japan is one of the seven most industrialised countries in the world, with an important diplomatic and business presence.
- Japan is Australia’s largest trading partner.
- Japanese culture is popular throughout the world through anime, computer games, fashion and cuisine.
