Overview
Marine scientists work on the conservation, use and development of the marine and coastal environment.
Protection and wise use of our natural resources is increasingly important. There is a need for skilled personnel who can advise upon, organise and control the development of marine resources and activities.
In this degree you'll study key areas of marine science and specialise in either marine biology or marine geosciences.
The marine biology specialisation includes units of study that cover estuarine, coastal and open ocean ecology, tropical, temperate and polar environments and fieldwork-based units.
Key features
- Outdoor practical experience, wide range of specialist marine staff.
- Undertake fieldwork including optional short courses in tropical regions. Past destinations include Fiji and the Great Barrier Reef.
- The strong science foundation underpinning this degree provides a wide range of opportunities in environmental fields.
- Students complete a final year research project in their area of interest.
Location
North Ryde
