Overview

Business Administration with Arts will give you a comprehensive understanding of corporate strategy and all business functions.

In this double degree you'll combine business studies with critical thinking and communications skills.

You'll study business areas including marketing, human resources and management. You'll also choose complementary arts subjects such as politics, media and communications giving you a cutting edge in your career.

Commercial law addresses law as it relates to commercial activities in Australia and overseas.

 You will gain:

  • an understanding of legal issues in commerce, finance and accounting practice
  • a solid foundation on the impact of the law on individual rights and general business practice.

This program examines the law relevant to business, trade and commerce in Australia, Europe and Asia. By choosing to focus on foreign legal systems or legal ethics you can widen the relevance of your degree.

Studying commercial law at Macquarie provides me with deeper understanding of the real business world. As an accounting degree student, I regard studying commercial law as an essential part of my program.The course design is dynamic and rewarding. You learn from real-life cases which makes the study of commercial law so interesting and challenging. Various tutorials and consultation time also provide good support and help me to quickly understand the concepts as well as apply them flexibly. Associate Professor Hope Ashiabor

Hope teaches tax, corporate and commercial law units in the undergraduate program. Prior to joining Macquarie, Hope worked as a state attorney and before that was an in-house counsel with a commercial bank.

His research interests are in the areas of environmentally related taxes; tax expenditures in policy implementation; regulatory aspects of carbon finance; energy law; and international tax policy.
