The politics and internal relations major will give you a deeper understanding of how the world and its countries work, and where you fit into that as an individual.

The study of politics is the study of how some people are able to get other people to do things that they otherwise would never have done – essentially it is about power and influence.

This major covers Australian politics, political theory and international relations. You’ll become familiar with:

  • institutional structures
  • recent political history
  • concepts and analytical approaches that can be applied to politics in other countries.

Political theory and public policy introduce the major debates and different ways of political thinking.

You will explore the ideas of influential political theorists and debates about democracy, liberalism, justice, feminism and civil society.

The study of international relations is concerned with:

  • relations among states
