Overview
Engineering at Macquarie is a unique electronic engineering program. The main focus is on practical learning based on the use of modern electronics, telecommunications techniques and software technologies to design, construct, manufacture and manage systems and products.

In this program you'll choose from six engineering majors:

You'll complement this study with your choice of arts majors including subjects from history, anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, international studies or languages.
In this program you'll gain highly developed communications skills, develop critical analysis and creative problem solving while preparing yourself to work as an engineer.
In Ancient History (Egypt and Near East), you’ll study the history, society, religions, material culture and languages of Ancient Egypt and the Near East. Periods range from Predynastic Egypt (c 3000 BCE) to the Near East and Late Antiquity, including the origins of Christianity and Judaism (c 600 CE).
Learn about the events of this world, and the personalities – from pharaohs, patriarchs and prophets to the farmers and artisans on which their worlds rested.
This major takes you from the rise of the Pharaohs in Egypt and the first civilisations in the Near East, through ancient Israel and the birth of Christianity, to its spread west and east into the new cultures, languages, and religions of Coptic Egypt and the Late Antique Near East.

Our Expertise
Dr Alexandra Woods
Alexandra Woods is associate lecturer in the Department of Ancient History. She studied Egyptology and Ancient History at Macquarie and completed an Honours degree in Egyptology before undertaking doctoral studies at Macquarie based on analysis of Old Kingdom art. She now teaches Egyptology with a focus on art history and Old and Middle Kingdom studies.
Since 2003 Alexandra has been involved in archaeological fieldwork in Egypt at a number of important sites including Saqqara , Deir el-Gebrawi and Meir. She is currently participating in recording and studying the Teti cemetery and Ptahhotep complex at Saqqara as well as the Old and Middle Kingdom tombs in the cemetery of Meir near Asyut .
