Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching

Overview

This diploma provides a pathway for graduates of primary school education to satisfy the requirements to qualify as an early childhood teacher to work in prior to school settings. This diploma will build on a primary school teacher's content knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy to address issues specific to children birth to five years.

Key features

  • Flexible study options: most units are offered on-campus and by distance, however, you will generally be required to attend one of two compulsory on-campus sessions per unit.
  • Includes two professional experience units to provide teaching experiences with children birth to five years.
  • Excellence in practice: You will have opportunities to participate in various programs at the Mia Mia Child and Family Study Centre.
  • You will explore a range of topics, including; child development during early childhood, children's play, health issues and leadership and management of early childhood settings.

Entry requirements

A recognised primary education teaching qualification. You will be required to submit an original official academic transcript or a certified copy with your application.

English language requirements

If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Notes:

To qualify for this award, you will need to complete a set of units worth 24 credit points, beginning with ECH113, ECH130, ECH216 and ECHP222.

A late fee will apply to applications received after 1 November 2011. Final applications will close 9 January 2012.
