This graduate diploma offers you a pathway into the Master of Speech and Language Pathology (MSLP) program if you do not meet the prerequisites required for the MSLP. This graduate diploma consists of 8 undergraduate units of study which can be studied on a full-time or part-time basis.

Entry requirements
Applicants with a non-speech and hearing science related Bachelor degree with credit average from a recognised university will be considered on an individual basis.
You will be required to submit a personal statement which should indicate:
- your understanding of Speech Pathology as practised in Australia
- relevant personal experience of speech pathology or related fields
- explanation of any factors that are relevant to the application
Your application will be assessed by academic staff in the Department of Linguistics and you will be advised of the outcome of your application by the Coursework Studies Section.
English language requirements
If you have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent you satisfy the English proficiency requirements.

Work experience requirements
No work experience is required, but it is recommended that you familiarise yourself with the field.

This program is strictly a pathway program into the Master of Speech and Language Pathology (MSLP). If you are considering applying, please contact the Linguistics Postgraduate Office (ling.postgrad@mq.edu.au) before you do so.
While a student may be recommended for this diploma, it must be stressed that there is no guarantee of automatic acceptance into the MSLP program. It simply means that once you have completed this program, you are eligible to apply to the MSLP program in the following year and you will be considered on a competitive basis with all other applications for that year. You will required to attain a credit average in this program to be eligible to apply to the Master of Speech and Language Pathology program.
